  • Adult Psych RN Days/Eves/Nights Rotate & EOW - 36hrs.
  • Unit Name: Epstein 5 - Adult Psych.
  • Brief Unit Description: 30-bed unit, adults ages 18-65. We treat patients with diverse types of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, dual diagnosis patients: Detox here on the unit while treating mental health issues), and some medically acute patients (IVs, CPAPs, Wound Care, diabetic care).
  • Years of Experience Required: 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience.
  • Skill Sets Required: Proficient in using automatic medication dispensing system (Omni Cell); proficient in electronic health records documentation, preferably EPIC; proficient in the use of psychotropic medications and side effects; Able to assume the role of charge nurse; Able to complete admissions and discharges. Competent in the use of IV pumps. Competent in care of diabetic patients.
  • Clinician to Patient Ratio: 1 RN to 7 or 8 patients.
  • Patient Population: Adults ages 18 to 65 years.
  • Bed Count: 30.
  • EMR (Charting System): EPIC.
  • Floating Required: Yes.
  • Rotating Shifts Required: Yes for Day Rotate. Rotation not required for Night positions.

    • Active Massachusetts RN License.
    • AHA BLS.
    • Certification in De-escalation.
    • 2 years minimum of inpatient adult psych experience.

      • Days/Eves/Nights Rotate & EOW - 36hrs.
      • Rotating Shifts Required: Yes for Day Rotate. Rotation not required for Night positions.

          • Additional Details
          • AVADE training offered on-site as well as lead EKG training.
          • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health rules and regulations.
          • Rights of inpatient requirements related to restraint and seclusion, legal statuses.
          • Knowledge of laws pertaining to guardianship, healthcare proxy (invoked vs confirmed) and court ordered Medication.
